Reports

You will receive a report from deCODE by mail, noting a positive or negative result for deCODE T2™, for you to report to and discuss with your patient. deCODE will make all reasonable effort to produce a report within 2-3 weeks on average but no later than 8 weeks of receipt of sample.

The test results should be considered within the context of your patient's medical history and other risk factors for T2D, including fasting glucose score, age, weight, smoking status, diet, exercise and family history.

Sample test reports:

Consultation and genetic counselling
deCODE’s tests are not determinative diagnostic test, but are risk tests, much like LDL-cholesterol and PSA predict cardiovascular disease and prostate cancer respectively. Even though deCODE ‘s tests measure variations in the DNA, for all practical purposes they are not like conventional genetic tests done for the diagnosis or carrier status detection of Mendelian diseases and family counseling. The results of deCODE’s tests should be considered along with other medical information about the patient like age, family history and results of a physical exam and other medical tests.

deCODE provides consultation services to physicians ordering the test and professional counseling can be arranged for patients if needed. If you want to discuss the results of the test to further your understanding or to discuss the needs and possibility of patient counseling, please contact our customer service department at diagnostics@decode.com or by phone at 1-877-222-6510 (Office hours: 9am-5pm CST).
