Buccal sample:
- Obtain Bodetech Buccal DNA Collector by contacting deCODE genetics Diagnostic Laboratory Client Services at diagnostics@decode.com or 1-877-222-6510.
- Remove the Buccal DNA Collector from the pouch, holding the handle at base. Move slider cover back if necessary to fully expose the collection paper.
- Instruct your patient in the use of the Buccal DNA Collector. It is important to observe that patients press the Collection Paper flat against cheek and that it is dragged accross at least eight times: Click to view/download detailed guidelines for the use of Bodtech Buccal DNA Collects
- After sampling, push the slider cover froward towards the tip of the collector, covering the Collection Paper.
- Label sample with a minimum of two identifiers: Patient initials, Unique ID, Patient Date of Birth, Date of sample collection, Patient gender,
- Place sample pouch and seal.
- Store and ship at room temperature

Blood sample:
- Label the sample tube with a minmum of two identifiers: Patient initials, Unique ID, Patient Date of Birth, Date of sample collection, Patient gender.
- Use a standard lavender top EDTA vacutainer tube (either glass or plastic are acceptable), for sampling. Try to fill the tube completely. Note that a minimum of 3ml of blood is required for successful testing*
- Refrigerate at 35°-40°F (3-4 °C), immediately after sampling
- Ship at 35-40° F (3-4 °C)
